May 17, 2022Throughout the month of May, local area photographers will exhibit their unique nature photos in the Visitor Center at Five Rivers. Please join us in-person on the evening of May 17 for an educational talk about the tried and true techniques of capturing the perfect outdoor nature photo with Scott Stoner and Denise Hackert-Stoner of Naturelogues.

NATURE BUS NATURE BUS

June 11, 2022The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (MHLC), the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA), and local project partners have come together again to offer free Saturday CDTA bus service to connect City of Albany residents to eight natural spaces in and around Albany. The service will start Saturday, May 28 and run through Saturday, September 24. Read more here.
The schedule for Five Rivers is the following Saturdays:
- May 28
- June 11 & 25 *** Note that June 11 is “NY Outdoors Day” with activities taking place at Five Rivers from 10 am to 2 pm
- July 9 & 23
- August 6 & 20
- September 3 & 17 *** Note that September 17 is the “Fall Festival” with activities taking place at Five Rivers from 10 am to 4 pm

Dismantle a life-sized Langstroth teaching hive to uncover the frames within. Handle the equipment of modern beekeepers and suit up to participate in a hive inspection with one of Friends’ beekeepers.

June 22, 2022If I were a Honey Bee, how many eyes would I have? How would I breathe? Where would I carry pollen? How would I communicate with my hive mates? Meet a Friends’ beekeeper to investigate these and other fascinating aspects of Honey Bee life. Then help the beekeeper open a hive and wonder anew as you observe the bees at work. Beekeeping suits, veils and gloves provided.
