WILDLIFE DATA OBSERVATION COLLECTION
Many people enjoy observing wildlife in a variety of different ways. Occasionally there are opportunities for you to help the Bureau of Wildlife collect valuable data. In some cases, this may require special effort but, in many cases all that is required is recording what you see while bird watching, photographing nature, hiking, scouting, etc. On site and with the direction of the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, volunteers are encouraged to take part in the following Citizen Science programs.
Bluebird Nest Box Monitoring, Bat Counts, Monarch Larva Monitoring and Winter Raptor Survey
If interested in monitoring at home instead or the broader community, check out the DEC’s Citizen Science webpage here.
For further information on the above opportunities, please call the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center at (518) 475-0291 or email 5rivers@dec.ny.gov
