Climate Change and the Environment Presentation

October 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Dr. Mathias Vuille, a climate scientist and Professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at the University at Albany, will give a special presentation at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center on Thursday, October 9th at 6:30 pm.  Dr. Vuille was the keynote speaker during our Friends of Five Rivers Membership Meeting earlier in the year.  He was so captivating that we have invited him back to continue his presentation on climate change and its direct impact on our environment (see description bel0w).  Please join us for this in-person only presentation.  Light refreshments will be served.  While walk-ins are welcome, we do suggest registering to help us properly plan.  Register here.

Climate Change  – Impacts, Challenges and Solutions for our Planet (Part 2)
Climate change is increasingly affecting our planet and its inhabitants. Despite a strong consensus within the scientific community about humanity’s role in climate change, the implementation of adaption and mitigation measures to curb greenhouse gas emissions has proven very difficult. In this presentation we will continue to take a closer look at the main impacts of climate change on our environment, both locally and globally. A main point of discussion will focus on how we might be able to reduce our vulnerability by transforming our infrastructure and energy production, despite the existing technological, socioeconomic, and political challenges.
