Join us on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 2-4 pm for our Annual Membership Meeting. This year’s meeting will be held in-person at Five Rivers Visitor Center Multi-Purpose room. However, we will also offer a Zoom option for those that are not able to attend in person. Stop by at 1:30 pm for light refreshments and a little mixing and mingling with Friends, before the business portion of the meeting begins at 2:00 pm. Following the short business meeting, the highlight of the afternoon will be our keynote speaker, Dr. Valerie Rapson, assistant professor of Physics and Astronomy at SUNY Oneonta. Dr. Rapson will share details about the upcoming solar eclipse. On April 8, 2024, everyone in North America will get to experience a solar eclipse! In this talk, Dr. Rapson will cover the basics of why solar eclipses happen, what you can expect to see from different locations, and tips for how to safely look at the sun. If time and weather allows, we’ll also go outside for a safe look at the sun today through a solar telescope. Solar viewing glasses will also be provided to all attendees. Fun and informative!
