Suozzo Scholarship


The Wendy Repass Suozzo Memorial Award Scholarship was created by the Repass Suozzo family in memory of the beloved Wendy Repass Suozzo. Wendy was a lifelong educator with a deep and heartfelt passion for nature. She was known for her compassionate spirit, cheerful attitude and for the positive impact she had on all those whose lives she touched.

2022 Recipients



Aliza Cotton is a 2022 graduate of Bethlehem Central High School. Since 2020, Aliza has been a member of the Jewish Youth Climate Movement, designed to mobilize Jewish youth against the climate crisis and build a more sustainable world. Aliza also has environmental research experience; participating in a Monarch monitoring project and assisting a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at SUNY Albany in a year-long study focusing on environmental justice and air pollution in New York State. Aliza plans to major in Environmental Studies at Williams College.




Aengus Gillespie is a 2022 graduate of Albany High School. Aengus served as a volunteer naturalist at Five Rivers from middle school to 10th grade when programs were shut down due to COVID. Aengus is also a 2-year volunteer at the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy. Aengus is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, kayaking, and fishing. The love of the doors led to an interest in ecology and biology. He has participated in educational programming run by the Adirondack Mountain Club, New England Aquarium, and EarthWatch International. Aengus plans to major in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources at West Virginia University.
